IDB position: Modernization of the State Specialist
The Institutional Capacity of the State (ICS) Division, a Division of the Institutions for Development Department (IFD) at the InterAmerican Development Bank (IDB), is inviting applications from suitably qualified nationals from its member states to fill the position of Modernization of the State Specialist, as an electronic government and information technologies expert.
OAS Report Examines Cybersecurity Trends in the Americas
The Organization of American States (OAS) through the Secretariat of Multidimensional Security (SMS) and the Inter-American Committee against Terrorism (CICTE) released today the report “Latin American and Caribbean Cybersecurity Trends and Government Responses.” Prepared in collaboration with the company Trend Micro, the report illustrates and analyzes cybersecurity and cybercrime trends in the region. The document contains detailed information on cyberthreats in the Americas, and for the first time incorporates the perspectives and experiences of OAS Member State governments.

Canada’s CIO receives ExcelGOV winners
Canada’s CIO, Corine Charette, receives ExcelGOV winners in Ottawa and shares with the delegations about their mandate and priorities on IT Modernization.
Since 2007 Red GEALC (with the support of IDRC) presents biennially the Award to Excellence in Electronic government, excelGOV. The winners of such recognition in each of the categories of each edition receive a technical visit to Canada to get to know the Canadian experience in e-government.
In the 2012 edition, the winners were Mer-Link of Costa Rica in the category “e-government centered on the citizen” and ttconnect Mobile of Trinidad and Tobago in the category “m-government.”
Global Information Technology Report highlights lack of progress in bridging the new digital divide
Despite efforts in the past decade to improve information and communications technologies (ICT) infrastructure in developing economies, there remains a new digital divide in how countries harness ICT to deliver competitiveness and well-being, according to the 12th edition of The Global Information Technology Report, released today by the World Economic Forum.
